LCA Food 2024

The local host institution was the Institute of Agri-Food Research and Technology IRTA. Universitat de Barcelona was the co-organiser.
Nearly 500 people from all five continents attended LCA Food in person, setting a new record of participation, which evidences that the LCA Food community is growing in line with its social, political, and industrial relevance.

Over the three-day conference, there were six plenary sessions, 192 oral presentations, five topical discussion sessions, and 200 posters dedicated to traditional conference topics, such as the presentation and discussion of methodological advances in LCIA for assessing food systems, and the LCA application to cropping and livestock systems. Emerging and rapidly growing topics included nutritional LCA, grading-based ecolabelling, the territorial perspective, or the environmental and social assessment of novel foods and alternative protein sources.
